Course Markings

Routes will be marked with designated road arrows. Turn-by-turn directions will also be found on the reverse side of the map. The color of your route will match across your bike stickers, wrist band, route map, road arrows, and other course markings. The typical course colors are below, but are subject to change before event day.

Route Arrow Color
Half-Metric Century Blue
Metric Century Yellow
Double-Metric Century Orange
Classic Century Green
Mt. Tam Century Purple
Mt. Tam Double Century Pink

Turns will be marked with white signs. Each year, some of our signs go missing, so please rely mostly on your route map and cue sheet.

Lane Controls

CHP officers will enforce temporary lane (not road) closures to help cyclists safely pass and share the road with other vehicles. These closures include:

  • Lucas Valley Road (westbound lane) from west of Westgate to Big Rock — 6:30–9:00 am
  • Pt. Reyes–Petaluma Road (northbound lane) from north of Nicasio Valley Road to the top of Rocky Hill — 7:30–10:00 am

Our event is not a race. You must ride safely at all times. If you are seen riding unsafely, you will be pulled from the course and now allowed to finish the ride.

Transfers and route upgrades

Like most other events, the Marin Century does not offer refunds for any reason. If you registered and cannot ride, you may transfer your registration to another rider at no cost. Simply download this form and follow the instructions.
If you are receiving a transfer from another rider, please have all forms completed before checking in at the Transfer table at the Registration booth. Please arrive at the Registration booth at least one hour before the start time.
If the original registrant elected to concierge mailing option, the new rider must exchange the original rider number stickers and wrist band for a new number and band. For safety reasons, new riders will be issued a new number. Please DO NOT ride with a number  issued to someone else.
If you are the original registrant, please forward the Pre-Ride Email to the transferee.
