About this event
Ho Ho Ho, Happy Holidays! This is the special White Elephant Gifting Pie Rides. There are some slight wild & crazy twists to the game this year, No Stealing, as many swaps as it takes, open gifts stay in the game and all exchanges are determined by your dice roll. You'll have to come to experience the nutty FUN.
Come ride with us and then let's gather at Big Rock Deli Cafe address: 1500 Lucas Valley Road X Mt. Lassen Drive, San Rafael 94903 Map post ride just 1 mile down the road; let's play our All Club 3rd year wild & crazy White Elephant Gift Exchange! We are aiming to start the Gift Exchange game between 2-2:30PM. If you get to Big Rock early, hangout, enjoy a beer and have some food while the rest of the White Elephant game participants file in.
Ride Details: The idea is for the rides to end around the same time. Pack the bike up or ride over to to Big Rock Deli. Grab a couple of tables and order up some food. We plan to start the gift exchange between about 2- 2:30PM. Please time your Pie shop stop, or skip Pie if you think you might be running behind. We'd love for you to join in the gift exchange. It's more fun with more people
Pie-Less Big Route 64 miles/3500' Brisk Pace: Indian Valley Campus*Stafford Lake Park*Wilson Hill*Chileno Valley Road*Spring Hill Rd*Windsor Dr* D Street* Walnut Park bathroom stop and it's back home from there! Climbing difficulty includes Wilson Hill (7.7% average grade for 0.7 miles) and Spring Hill (4.4% average grade for 1 mile) Meet at Marinwood Community Center at 9:15 am/Roll 9:30am
Shortened No Pie 49 miles/ 2,800' Moderate Pace: Same as Little Pie out to Miwok Park, then Stafford Lake, Hicks Valley Rd, Wilson Hill, straight on Chileno Valley Rd to Helen Putnam Park, Downtown Petaluma*, Walnut Park and back to the start. (Suggested Regroup and bathroom stops: Miwok Park, Helen Putnam Park Chileno Valley Rd side and Walnut Park.) Meet at Marinwood Community Center at 9:15 am/Roll 9:30am. *We understand the riders' love of pie and will leave it to the group to decide whether to stop for pie or not.
Little Pie Route 47 miles/ 2,200'/Social Pace: Have pie, or not after a nice climb out of San Antonio Road. Ignacio Blvd* Miwok Park*Redwood Blvd* San Antonio Rd*D Street*Petaluma Pie Co*Petaluma Blvd. Meet at Marinwood Community Center at 9:15 am/Roll 9:30am
Littlest Pie Route 24 miles/Leisurely/1200 feet : Shorten the ride but still earn and enjoy your pie. Start at San Marin SMART Station and meet the Little Pie riders between 10:15-10:30 am. ***This option leaves 10:30 am from San Marin SMART Station
After the ride bike on over with your White Elephant gift, lean your bike in the open areas in the back next to the stage OR drive your car over. Please order inside the market. If you get there early, enjoy some food first. We are aiming to start the gift exchange when everyone gets into Big Rock, about 2-2:30PM. Pace your ride accordingly. You may want to skip the pie stop or not. It's about 1-1/2 hrs back to Marinwood from Petaluma downtown. The idea is to have all the different pace groups be at Big Rock deli at about the same time. **We hope that those of your who are not riding will join in the fun as well!!! The ride and the White Elephant gift exchange is open to all riders, members and non-members. Please register for the ride so we can expect you.
This year's White Elephant Gift Exchange Guidelines and suggestions:
*Please bring a wrapped gift to participate
*Less than $25 value
*It's WAY more fun if MORE people participate
*Re-gift something in your gifts closet or better yet give something you made; put your creativity to work
*Dice game with instructions below; roll the dice 2-12
*There will be No Stealing this year, Ha!
*The gifts can be switched more than 3 times, in fact as many times as it takes until we get to the last person
*Final bonus gift to the person with the lowest value dice roll during game
*Bring your holiday spirit this year and come join in the fun
*If you are riding to the start with your gift you can leave it with Helen Kwong. She will drive over to Big Rock Deli and put it into Santa's bag.
